Infected Ingrown Toenail: Open Up, Soak, and Antibiotics

I recently treated a patient with an infected ingrown toenail. I took the corner of the nail out to allow the soaking to get in deep. I had placed her on dicloxicillin 250 mg four times daily and this treatment was successful. However, she did not like the GI problems of the dicloxicillian, so this article told gave me Plan B if it happens again: cephalexin. Golden Rule of Foot: Always Have Plan B.
