Short Leg Syndrome: Video showing Examination

I hope this video brings out several key points:
  • Leg Length evalualtion should be done standing
  • Blocks of measured thicknesses are used to level the spine after the short leg is measured
  • The 3 landmarks are 2 pelvic and 1 femoral and could all be different (your job is to make sense of it)
  • These standing 3 landmarks are most reliable with a Standing AP Pelvic Xray
  • The hands or thumbs should be kept parallel to each other and to the ground
  • The examiner's eyes should be at the level of their hands
  • The treatment, based on the exam, should be done gradually with increasing lifts
