I love to have my plantar fasciitis patients tape for some of their activities. Even when they have orthotic devices, when they fit their heel off the ground, they lose some of the effectiveness of an orthosis. Tape comes in handy when running hills, or in sports like basketball when you are up on the ball of your foot for an extended period of time. Learning the skill of taping, and there are so many methods, can help you avoid reflares. Patients will only tape when they need to, but they must find out when they need to, and they must have the skill of self taping in their arsenal of tricks that help.
Welcome to the Podiatry Blog of Dr Richard Blake of San Francisco. I hope the pages can help you learn about caring for foot injuries, or help you with your own injury.
